Fostering Kids Hope

The Foundation of the Rotary Club of East Portland, a 501(C) (3) charitable organization, supports several causes which benefit many children.

Foster Children's Christmas Party

Annual holiday event for over 500 kids and their foster families. Each child receives a personalized gift from Santa, with face painting, hot chocolate bar and craft center.

"Fostering Kids Hope programs are absolutely incredible! These are life enriching activities that Portland Metro foster children would otherwise not experience. While Oregon's foster children are struggling through loss, changes and challenges, Fostering Kids Hope provides opportunities for foster children to experience the simple joys of childhood that most of us take for granted. Fostering Kids Hope events make our foster families and children feel special and cared for. The men and women of East Portland Rotary are making a lifelong difference in the lives of Oregon foster children through Fostering Kids Hope."

- Michelle McAllister - DHS Child Welfare

Children's Museum BBQ

A fun night at the Children's Museum in June for foster children and families with hot dogs and hamburgers

Foster Children's Easter Egg Hunt

Annual event for foster children held at Oaks Park. With an Easter egg hunt, face painting, snacks, followed by rides this makes for a memorable day.

“It has been an absolute delight working with the East Portland Rotarians for the past several years to support foster kids.  Looking forward to another successful “Hometown Holiday” show this year to benefit the kids with Fostering Kids Hope. So proud to be a part of such a great organization, great cause and great group of kids.” – Savannah Jones, Music Director/Midday Host – 99.5 The Wolf

Proceeds from The Wolf’s Hometown Holiday Show have benefited Fostering Kids Hope for the last several years.  My staff and I have been very touched by the wonderful work the Rotarians do for foster children in our community, and we couldn’t be more proud to raise money for such a worthy cause.”  – Mike Moore, Program Director – 99.5 The Wolf

Oaks Park Children's Party

Provide sponsorship and volunteers for this late September DHS event for over 1000 foster children and families

Other Foundation programs impact children and others in need both in our community and around the world. Locally, these include providing dental services, music instruction, and other support to Portland’s Vernon Elementary students, eight $1,000 college scholarships to area high school seniors, personal dictionaries for Portland Public School 3rd graders, Start Making a Reader Today (SMART) books for a number of local schools, Meals on Wheels ( in addition to financial support, East Portland Rotary members drive Meals on Wheels routes and read to SMART students each week), and outbound Rotary International Youth Exchange Students.  Our recent and current international service includes clean water projects in Honduras, library and dental projects in Costa Rica and other health and literacy projects in third world countries.
