Foster Children's Christmas Party

On December 16, 2023, some 400 Foster kids were treated to a one of a kind Holiday Party hosted by 75 Volunteers made up of members, family and guests.  This is East Portland Rotary’s signature service project started 25 years ago by Rotarian Dave Vernon.

The event in the past was held at Memorial Coliseum, but this year was hosted at DHS Family Center in Northeast Portland and directed by Melissa Meyer and Sandy Sampeer.  Outside of gifts shopped personally by Rotarians and presented by Santa, each child received a $40 Goodwill Industries gift card.  There were corn dogs and hot chocolate, face painting and photos.  There was even a special exhibit by OMSI, and fun with Balloon and Reptile Men.

It was a huge success, and planning was already started for the Party at Christmas time next year.  Putting a big smile on a lot of kids was the goal, and was certainly achieved!
