iFixit is the world’s largest online repair manual. Our mission is to teach everyone to fix every thing, and to advocate for Right to Repair laws to be passed in the United States. Why? In the last few years, we passed 50 million tons of e-waste. Repair is a crucial part of the product life cycle. Our electronic devices are made with toxic chemicals and finite resources, and fixing the devices we already have keeps them out of the landfill even longer.

Right to Repair legislation would allow you to choose to fix your devices yourself, take them to the manufacturer, or take them to a third-party repair shop—kind of like you can with your car. It all comes down to ownership: if you’ve paid for a device you should be able to open it up and tinker.
