My Voice Music

My Voice Music is a nonprofit organization building relationships, fostering connection, revealing our common humanity through songwriting, recording, performance and long-term artistic mentorships that help youth to find and share their voice.  1,600 youth are served each year through MVM’s free recording studio, classes that are open to the public, and through outreach programs for youth living in treatment facilities or detention centers, experiencing mental health challenges and/or recovering from trauma.

Since founding in 2008, MVM has served over 10,000 young people.  In 2017, 700 were living in detention centers and mental health treatment facilities; 215 were undocumented, unaccompanied migrant youth seeking refugee status in the U.S.; 100 were living in Foster Care; and 600 attended our free studio in SE Portland, participating in year-round artistic mentorships.  85% attended My Voice Music for free.
